Your Best Self

Whenever I am trying to motivate myself to do something, I think, “What would my best self do in this moment?”

If I ask this question often enough, I make better choices and become a better version of myself.

If I ever get to the pearly gates, I do not want Saint Peter to show me the version of myself that I could have been if I had only made better choices. Come to think of it, that is actually my vision of Hell—to have lived on God’s green earth for decades and not done all that I could have with the many gifts I had been given.

Decisions that seem inconsequential oftentimes turn out to be the most important of all. All the little decisions we make every day either propel us forward or set us back; they make our lives better or worse.

I want to make choices every day to become a better version of myself.
