A Simpler Way to Think About Strategic Planning
As I continue growing my keynote speaking and team training business, one concept keeps coming up in mastermind groups, podcasts, and conversations with other business leaders: strategic planning.
This concept has always been a challenge to me because so much of my life has been serendipitous. I’ve always had a sense of where I wanted to go. I just didn’t always have a map. Through hard work and God’s providence, the next opportunity always presented itself.
What I’ve come to realize is that strategic planning doesn’t have to be rigid or overwhelming. In fact, the most effective plans are often the simplest—just clear, intentional steps that keep you moving toward something meaningful.
Here’s the approach I’ve embraced:
Define Priorities: Focus on what matters most. Not everything. Just the few things that will move you forward in the right direction.
Anticipate Challenges: Stay open, stay curious, and keep learning. Growth requires preparation, even when the road ahead is uncertain.
Take Action: You don’t need to have it all figured out. Just take the next step. Then the next. Adjust along the way.
This approach helps me ensure that my progress isn’t just reactive—it’s intentional. Well, mostly. (Let’s not pretend I haven’t gone down a rabbit hole or two.)
So here’s my question for you: How can you be a little more intentional this week?
No pressure. Just pick one thing and go from there. Strategic planning, serendipity-style.
