Why Fit In?

Why fit in when you can stand out?

What is the point of being like everyone else?

History does not remember the folks who fit in—it remembers those who stood out and stood up for what they believed in—Leonardo da Vinci, George Washington, and Martin Luther King Jr., to name a few. The list is long.

I understand that there is comfort in fitting in, in being part of a community. I like being part of our family, our church, and our community.

The challenge is to find a way to belong while also questioning the status quo, to be a part of a community while also finding a way to stand out.
