I’ve Got the Power
One of the concepts I learned about when I was earning my Master of Arts in Professional Communication and Leadership was the concept of power. In a business context, power is mostly talked about in relation to other people, as in, who has power over whom?
But I like to think about power in a more personal way, as in, what do I have power over? I like thinking about power this way because it makes me feel strong and, well, powerful.
The truth is, we all have power.
We all have the power to create our own energy—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
We may not have power over our circumstances, but we do have power over how we react to those circumstances.
We do not have power over how other people act, but we do have power over how we react to those people.
We have the power to create the energy we want right now. We do not have to wait for permission to speak up, act up, or make changes.
Once we have created that energy and realized our power, what should we do with it?
We should share it with other people. Empower other people. Help other people. Make the world a better place.
Most importantly, we should use our power to create an exceptional life.
